Why can't you dive and fly on the same day?
You can't dive and fly on the same day due to the risk of decompression sickness (DCS). When diving, nitrogen accumulates in body tissues. Flying increases altitude, causing pressure to decrease, which can release nitrogen bubbles formed during the dive, leading to DCS. It's recommended to wait at least 12-24 hours after a single no-decompression dive or longer after multiple dives or dives requiring decompression stops before flying. This allows excess nitrogen to off-gas from the body, reducing the risk of DCS during flight.
